Who

From the inquiring minds of Efijeni Kokedhima and Neritan Zinxhiria, Reconstructing Memories is a film production initiative based between Tirana and Athens. We work across borders; geographical, emotional, and historical - guided by cinema’s power to reveal, haunt, and transform.

What

We produce films, site-specific installations, and research-based works. Our projects have received support from major platforms like the Hubert Bals Fund (IFFR) and continue to travel the international festival circuit.

Why

Cinema for us, is an act of excavation - of memory, loss, and space.
In 2019, we reopened the dictator’s abandoned villa in Tirana with Cine Tarkovsky. What began as an ephemeral gesture evolved into a reclaimed public space, where the moving image became a tool of resistance, healing, and reinvention In 2023, Light of Light, a Slamdance Grand Prix Winner and Tiger Short Nominee, became a festival-hit, continuing its remarkable festival run to this day.

Ongoing

We continue to explore how film can inhabit and reframe space - both physical and psychic From post-socialist ruins to contemporary anxieties,
we reconstruct memory
until nothing we remember really happened;
until we fade away.
